attractdusk Spring Cottages are an excellent base for anyone who wishes to explore the surrounding country side, with the spectacular Cheddar Gorge and caves and the breathtaking views from the walks on top, along with Cheddar Reservoir, both just a short walk away. We are on the doorstep to the West Country, Wiltshire and Dorset, with the famous Jurassic Coast Line, wonderful walks for amazing days out.

For our guests who prefer to forget the car and either walk or cycle, then there are many walks and cycle routes to suit everyone, from easy to difficult and all varied lengths. We have had guests who have walked, or cycled, up to 20 miles a day, rucksack, map and a good pub at the end, what more could you ask for? Your bikes can be locked safely in the barn at night, or when not in use. You can also hire bikes from Cheddar Cycle store.

attractrgorgeFor bird watchers, there are many areas close-by where you can watch birds from the hides on the local nature reserves. For golfers, there are excellent courses in the area, all within an easy drive, eg Isle of Wedmore, Wells, Mendip and the Championship links course at Burnham & Berrow.

Spring Cottages are also an excellent base for anyone who has a desire for photography or to sit and paint, either in the garden or the surrounding area, with Cheddar Reservoir just a short walk away, along with the spectacular Cheddar Gorge, all with breathtaking views.

Just a stones throw from the cottage are local pubs for either a locally produced pint of beer, or glass of wine, plus good food. At the bottom of the Gorge and in Cheddar village, just a short walk from the cottages, you will find many places to eat to suit every pallet and wallet. Treat yourself to a wonderful cream tea at Derricks, situated in the Gorge; they also make excellent light lunches and meals.

The cathedral city of Wells which is about 20 minutes drive not only offers good places to eat either during the day or evening but also makes an excellent day out. Here too you will find good local pubs to eat and drink and then on the drive out towards the Village of Priddy, there are very good walks and cycle rides. From Priddy you can then drive down through the amazing Cheddar Gorge.
